REHABILITATION

At Carolinas Medical Center-Union, licensed physical, speech and occupational therapists provide a variety of rehabilitation services.

Using a combination of therapies, our goal is to restore every patient to a life that is as full and rewarding as possible. Our medical staff works closely with patients and their families to ensure that each patient achieves his or her maximum independence and confidence.

Each patient receives a customized treatment plan for each therapy, which may include:

  • Physical therapy assists with deficits in strength, flexibility, mobility and balance to return patients to their daily activities.
  • Speech therapy assists patients of all ages in regaining a variety of functions including comprehension (listening and reading), expression (speaking and writing), swallowing and cognition (thinking).
  • Occupational therapy assists patients in regaining their ability to perform daily activities. This is accomplished by rehabilitating their cognition, visual perception, sensation, or upper extremity function.
